Veterinarian/Owner

Dr Karleah, graduated from the University of Queensland with First Class honours in 2007. Originally born and raised up the highway in Taree, and having spent her early veterinary career in busy hospitals in Brisbane, Karleah moved closer to 'home' and worked for several years in the Port Stephens/Medowie area.

Karleah opened the doors of Tea Gardens Veterinary Hospital in Dec 2015, fulfilling a life long dream of providing high quality veterinary care in her own Hospital.

Karleah lives with her family in Hawks Nest which includes her husband Josh, her daughter Olivia and son Hayden.

Dr Karleah is committed to professional development in all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine with a special interest in veterinary ultrasound and oncology.

Outside her work in Veterinary medicine, Karleah enjoys spending time at the beach and going on new adventures with her family.

Owner/Manager

Josh graduated with a Bachelor of Business in 2008. Josh joined the team in 2015 as owner and as Practice manager in 2018. Josh has worked in senior roles for several companies including Toyota.

Outside his Veterinary Management work, Josh enjoys spending time with family and watching sport.

Veterinary Surgeon

Dr Ingrid’s journey in the field of veterinary medicine began after she completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Sydney University in 1996. After graduation, she gained hands-on experience working in various veterinary hospitals throughout regional NSW and the UK, finally calling Great Lakes her home and joining our team in 2020.

Outside her work in Veterinary medicine, Ingrid enjoys spending time on her property relaxing, gardening and going for scenic walks.

Emma Thomas<p><span style="color:#8ba2de!important;">Nurse</span></p>

Nurse

Emma started her nursing career as a trainee with the hospital in 2017, and further qualified with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2020. She has remained a valued member of the Tea Gardens Veterinary Hospital Team since then.

Emma has experience in all areas of veterinary nursing and client communication. Her special interests include feline medicine, puppies/kittens and clinical nursing.

Outside her work in Veterinary nursing, Emma enjoys playing flute, trivia, and spending time with her pets Arlo, Artie and Luna.

Head Veterinary Nurse

Megan completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2012, commenced work as a full time veterinary nurse in small animal practice and joined the Tea Gardens Veterinary Hospital team in 2017.

Megan has a commitment to ongoing education in all areas of veterinary nursing and acts in senior role in the hospital supporting other nursing staff and trainee students. In her nursing role she has a special interest in complex hospital cases and outstanding patient care. 

Outside her work in Veterinary nursing, Megan enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring new places.

Melanie Southall <br> <span style="color:#8ba2de!important;">Nurse</span>

Melanie Southall
Nurse

Melanie qualified with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2022. She joined the Tea Gardens Veterinary Hospital team in 2022, and returned in 2023 after a period of maternity leave.

Melanie has gained experience in all aspects of veterinary nursing including exotic animal species and completion of a Certificate in Veterinary Canine rehabilitation. Her special interests include geriatric patient care.

Outside her work in veterinary nursing, Mel enjoys baking cakes, horse riding, camping and spending time with her family.

Chloe started her nursing career as a trainee with the hospital in 2022 and further qualified with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2023.

Chloe has gained valuable experience working within the team in all areas of small animal veterinary nursing.

Outside her work in veterinary nursing, Chloe enjoys playing computer games and spending time with her friends.
